Most people enjoy french fries. Unfortunately, eating fries can totally ruin your diet. There is, however, a healthy french fry alternative that you can bake yourself. After slicing potatoes into 1/2″ strips, place in a bowl along with 1T of canola oil. Sprinkle with pepper, salt and other seasonings of your choice. Arrange the fries on a roaster pan or cookie sheet in just one layer and bake at 400 degrees in your oven for 30 minutes. Gently loosen and turn the fries with a spatula, then bake for a final 10 minutes. These potatoes are yummy when dipped in ketchup, and they do not have as many calories as traditional fries. Eat your largest meal in the middle of the day. If you eat something light, such as a sandwich, for your afternoon meal, eat it in the evening instead. Your body burns more calories throughout the day, rather than at night, so this strategy makes more sense.
If you are dieting, there’s nothing wrong with not finishing all your food. Many parents teach their children that they must finish everything they are served and this requirement often causes adults to struggle with weight gain for years. Taking food home with you after eating out is perfectly acceptable. You don’t have to eat food just because you can see it. Focus on the food you are eating and quit when you begin to feel satisfied.
Hang out with active people. Being around active people makes us want to be active, too. Someone who is a couch potato might have a negative influence on you.
Try sucking on some ice if you are trying to lose weight. Often, it is not hunger that drives you to snack, but the habit of having your mouth occupied. Sucking on a piece of ice is a harmless way to indulge this craving.
If you are trying to shed excess pounds, there will probably be a time or two when you want to dine out at a nice restaurant. Remember that most establishments serve over-sized portions. You can always take home half of your meal. That way, you’ve cut out half the calories you were going to eat, and you save money because you don’t have to fix lunch the next day.
You have to have shoes that fit you well when you are ready to start exercising. You’re going to be pushing your body and the last thing you need is extra soreness or even an injury because you didn’t take the time to find shoes that fit properly. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get adequate workout shoes, but you do need to try them on and walk around to ascertain that they fit well.
Make sure to keep your stress in check so as to avoid weight gain. The human body stores calories and fat for defense against stressful situations. Even though your stress may not be permanent, your body still reacts this way. Therefore, keep your stress at a minimum and attempt to remain calm in order to assist your body in losing weight.
